Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mané, Senegal international, has been signed by Al Nassr, a Saudi Pro League club for a fee about £30 million.
The former Liverpool winger will join ex-Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo at the club ahead of the league upcoming season.
Mane joined the German side from Anfield in 2022, but he had a poor season with the German champions. He was briefly suspended after allegedly fighting with Leroy Sané, his teammate when they lost to Manchester City during the Champions League match.
Roberto Firmino, the Senegalese compatriot at Liverpool, has also joined Al Ahli and Jordan Henderson has moved to Al Etiffaq in the Saudi Pro League.
Last season, Mane won Bundesliga for Bayern, while at Liverpool FC, he won six titles including; Premier League Trophy of 2020/21 and UCL trophy of 2019/20.
Mané’s signing is the latest in the series of moves by frontline players from Europe abandoning their clubs to go and join SPL for lucrative contracts. Already this summer, former Chelsea lads N’Golo Kante, Édouard Mendy, and Kalidou Koulibaly; Man City striker Riyad Mahrez; as well as Real Madrid forward and Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema have all been transferred to that country in the Middle East.
