A 15-year-old girl died in a tragic incident at Olomore Housing Estate in Abeokuta, Ogun State as a result of electrocution. The incident occurred after half past eleven on the night of Sunday while she was trying to fetch water from a well during power outage in her house.
GistReporterd.com learned that the minor did not know that her family already had electricity back on before she touched an open wire that was being used by pump at the well and got herself electrocuted.
The next day, Omolola Odutola, the state Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the death of this minor as well as a medical personnel who also verified it.

Onyekachi Silas, whom the victim is his sister-in-law ypunger’s sister, informed the PPRO about the happening in their estate.
According to him, the victim was staying with them when this accident occurred, and after experiencing power blackout, she went to fetch water and while there is no light current resumed and she was elecrucuted from the opened wire of pump itself.
She was immediately rushed to hospital but could not make it alive till she arrived at hospital.
An investigation has commenced; hence, her corpse has been deposited at Oke Lantoro mortuary

The present occurrence repeats a comparable tragedy that happened to an electrician in Unity Estate, Aregbe on November 7, 2023. He died of electrocution while fixing his neighbor’s electrical problem during a blackout. While he was working on the pole, the electricity came back suddenly, causing him to die prematurely.
