Following the ongoing concerns regarding the launch of Nigeria Air, the company in charge of the project has disclosed that the national carrier will begin operations this year.
The CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, Mesfin Tasew, in a recent interview on Bloomberg TV disclosed that Nigeria Air will commence operation in October 2023.
Recall, 48 hours before the end of Hadi Sirika’s tenure as aviation minister, he unveiled Nigeria Air with a chartered aircraft from Ethiopia, which eventually led to a nationwide outcry.
The aircraft from Ethiopia could not be registered as a Nigeria Air carrier because it was paid for just to display how the West African country’s national carrier will look like when its project is completed.
However, Tasew nevertheless indicated in the interview that Nigeria Air would begin operations with two wide-bodied aircraft and six narrow-bodied aircraft.
