President Bola Tinubu has substituted the nomination of Dr. Mariam Shettima with Mariya Mahmoud, another indigene of Kano State.
Mariam Mahmoud and Shetty are said to have been classmates during their junior secondary school days, and both also attended Bayero University, Kano.
Tinubu had sent a second list of ministerial nominees to the Senate last Wednesday, and among them was the former Minister Festus Keyamo, who proved indispensable during the presidential campaign.
[p]All Legit News reports that the second list has 19 ministerial designations.[/p]
[p]The declaration of Maryam Shetty from Kano State as a minister by President Goodluck Tinubu elicited varied reactions from Nigerians Wednesday. They were sharply divided on social media, especially on Twitter.[/p]
While some were hailing the President for the youngness of his candidate, others were castigating him for fielding someone with hardly any experience at all in the public domain.
Tinubu had, through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, forwarded a 28-man list to the Senate for screening and confirmation on August 2.
