On a recent Saturday, Coach Dreh, who is widely known as Akinrodoye Dare did an amazing 11.8-kilometer swim across Lagos’ Third Mainland Bridge.
It took him 2 hours and 33 minutes to achieve this goal, with the purpose of focusing attention on mental health issues such as depression and suicides.
Coach Dreh emphasized the importance of mental health in a video released by #MeetPrinceAhmad on platform X and called for help from those struggling.
He said that “I want to raise awareness and enlighten society about mental health, suicide and depression by swimming through the entire length of the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge. Having been swimming for more than ten years now, nothing seems impossible for me because it empowers me to attain things that I seek to do. Mental health is something that is dear to me; life can be too much at times but then again it’s ok to ask for help. Life can turn around without notice; it is worth staying alive just to see what happens next.”
Post-swim, #MeetPrinceAhmad shared, “On this day, March 30th, 2024, a young man fought through great difficulties and managed to courageously finish the 11.8km swim over the Third Mainland Bridge in 2 hours, 33 minutes and 50 seconds.”
Furthermore, #AbisolaAlawode wrote: “For two hours and thirty-three minutes non-stop Coach Dreh swam across the entire length of the Third Mainland Bridge. In commemoration of his swim for mental health awareness campaign against suicide and depression.”
