Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 54-year-old Chizoke Obiadada and his son Micheal aged 17 for allegedly killing their neighbor’s wife Tope Owoade in the Sagamu Local Government Area, Ogijo of the state.
This tragic event happened on Thursday, March 28, 2024.
SP Omolola Odutola who doubles up as the force’s spokesperson shared this information with the media on Saturday.
According to reports, the crisis began when it emerged that the deceased sells ponmo (a type of cow skin) from a table. The Obiadadas were against her occupation of the table thus resulting in a brawl.
The arrest came after Isiaka, spouse of the victim reported to Ogijo Divisional Headquarters.
The statement read, “On March 29, 2024, around 8:30 pm Isiaka lodged a complaint that her wife was brutally attacked by Obiadadas. This case resulted in serious injuries which led to excessive bleeding. She tried advising them about using her sales-table as a chair.”
According to Isiaka, his wife was turned away from two community hospitals (Main Frame Private Hospital and Kunle Hospital, Atan Agowa, and) and died on the way to a government hospital.
The DPO Ogijo Division promptly arrested the suspects on getting the information.
SP Odutola has revealed that the case will be referred to the State CID for full investigation.
Plans are currently being made to move the corpse to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital’s morgue in Sagamu for a postmortem examination.
