Justice Nasiru Saminu of the Kano High Court, on Monday, ruled to grant a nail to TikToker Murja Kunya in the sum of N500,000, as well as two sureties; a relative and am individual who owes a land property in the state
Murja, a controversial content creator applied for a bail after the Kano Shari’ah Court ordered that she undergo mandating mental evaluation by a psychiatric doctor.
According to Justices Saminu, the TikToker needs to be released because of the upcoming Easter break, while adding that Murja has been in detention since the 20th of February 2024.
Additionally, the court emphasised the need to verify the sureties’ property, and also barred Murja from using her social media account until matter was determined.
The judge also informed the content creator that any violations will result in her being re-arrested.
In his words, “If Murja violates any of the restriction, the Commission of Police should arrest and bring her back to the court.”
Justice Saminu ordered that the counsel to the defendants, the state CP, Hisbah Board’s Attorney General, and Commissioner of Police must must be available to address the amendments to the “Kano State Hisbah Board Amended Law for proper adjudication.”
He then adjourned the matter till 16th of May 2024, for further hearing.
Murja was arrested and arraigned after Hisbah Board complained about her conduct and posting on social media which it considered as immoral.
