The Federal Government has hit Godwin Emefiele with new charges and requested that the initial possession of a gun be dropped.
Director of Public Prosecutions at the Federal Ministry of Justice, Mohammed Bakodo Abubakar, who made this public, disclosed in an oral motion to the Federal High Court in Ikoyi that the withdrawal was the result of fresh investigations.

This latest charge was disclosed by Abubakar to reporters at a press conference after the day’s events.
Recall, the DSS had filed a two-count charge bordering on “illegal possession of firearms” at a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos. He was granted bail, but the secret police kept him in their custody.
