A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, ruled that the EFCC can detained the corner Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
the Court powered the EFCC to carry out the action through an arrest warrant. This decision came following an ex parte motion filed by anti-graft agency
According to Justice Emeka Nwite, who presided over the case, Bello will be presented in court for his arraignment next Thursday, 18th April.
“The court orders immediate arrest of defendant for presentation in this court on specified date for arraignment scheduled for April 18, 2024,” he decreed.
There were also reports that a Lokoja High Court had given an injunction against the former governor’s arrest, detention and prosecution by EFCC.
Also on the same day, Governor Ododo Usman of Kogi State stopped Bello from being arrested by EFCC.
Newsmen at the scene repprted that around 2:30 p.m., Governor Ododo arrived with some heavy security presence. At about 4:20 p.m., he left with Bello in an official gubernatorial vehicle. Almost immediately after their departure, situated on Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4 at Abuja; the EFCC agents who had been keeping an eye on Bello’s residence packed up and left.
