The Regional Manager of Binance Africa, Nadeem Anjarwalla, on Friday, escaped from detention, according to the Office of the National Security Adviser.
The Office of the NSA confirmed the news through a statement signed by Mallam Nuhu Ribadu’¥ Head, Strategic Communication, Zakari Mijinyawa.
Anjarwalla, who is a national of British and Kenya, reportedly fled the country using a smuggled passport. ONSA also confirmed that personnel responsible of his custody have been arrested, and investigation was ongoing to uncover the what happened, as well as efforts to arrest the suspect.
The office has called on all Nigerians and the international community to provide relevant information cat could assist the Nigerian Government to arrest the Binance executive.
Recall that on February 28,; 2024, the Nigerian Government arrested two executives of Binance and shut down the company’s operations in the country.
And on March 12, 2024, the Financial Times reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) asked Binance to disclose detail of its top 100 users, and their transactions history in the past six months.
