Minister of FCT Nyesom Wike has dared his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to suspend or expell him from the opposition party.
Wike, who is a mber of the PDP took an appointment from the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress, an action which was considered as ‘anti-party’, but the minister claimed he is feeling for the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and not the ruling party.
While speaking on Channels TV on Wednesday, he said, he is yet to encounter any mber of his party who can discipline him.
According to him, he has helped the PDP to produced a governor, three senators and national assembly members. Adding that when he hasn’t done all these, the party could not suspend him, how would they able to do so now.
He said: “The person who will suspend me is when I couldn’t produce a governor, three senators, Assembly members. I have not seen that person. Nobody will do it.”
During the February 25, 2023 general election, Wike did not supported his party presidential candidate, he did not declare his support for any parties, but the APC emerged victorious in Rivers state.
APC were able to claim victory in the presidential poll, but Wike’s successor from the PDP won the the gubernatorial election.
The result of the election were being challenged in court, Wike seized an appointment in President’s cabinet as the Minister of Federal Capita Territory.
“I am not working for APC,” Wike continued. “I am working for Tinubu who have trust in me to help him deliver the renewed hope.”
He also added that he owes no PDP members any apology, and confessed to have worked against the strong opposing party during the last general election.
“I owe nobody any apology at all,” he added. “I was in PDP and I worked for Ahmed Bola Tinubu to become the President of Nigeria.”
