AS Roma have announced the signing of Romelu Lukaku on a season-lomg loan from Chelsea. The Belgium international will also reunite with former head coach Jose Mourinho.
Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter Milan after he had initially left the Serie A side to sign for Chelsea, unfortunately, the move did not went as planned, as he was forced back to Italy.
The Belgian first joined Inter Milan in 2019 before he departed for the Premier League club, he then returned to the Serie A side in 2021, before this last season when he moved back on loan.
Chelsea have been looking for ways to release Lukaku from their squad, but the club didn’t receive a good offer from clubs aiming to buy him. The striker has also made it clear to Chelsea that he does not want play for the Blues again and would like to remain in the Serie A.
He will work with Jose Mourinho, who coached him during his first spell at Stamford Bridge and also at Manchester United when he joined the Red Devils in 2017.
Chelsea have strengthened their squad with the addition of players, including the likes of Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, and Raheem Sterling. And other hand, Roma are struggling since the start of the new season, and Lukaku could be the player that can help the club.
