President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed his appreciation for a UK Court decision by Judge Robin Knowles in London, which on Monday awarded victory to the Nigerian Government in the case against Process & Industrial Development Limited.
Tinubu described the judgment as a triumph for Africa and developing nations
According to him, this judgement signifies the end of economic conspiracies between private firms and corrupt officials.
He commended the UK Court for prioritizing the merits of the case and acknowledged the efforts of the defense team and the Federal Ministry of Justice in safeguarding Nigeria’s interests.
The case revolved around the fraudulent acquisition of a substantial award to P&ID over a failed 2010 gas processing plant deal.
In a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu was quoted saying: Today’s victory is not for Nigeria alone.
“It is a victory for our long-exploited continent and for the developing world at large, which has for too long been on the receiving end of unjust economic malpractice and overt exploitation.
“Nigeria is appreciative of the tremendous efforts of the defense team and acknowledges the role of the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Attorney-General in the process of defending Nigeria’s interest in this case.”
