Portable, a Nigerian street-pop artist whose real name is Habeeb Badmus, emerged victorious in a celebrity boxing match against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha on Wednesday.
The match, which was organised by Heritage Boxing Entertainment, took place at Landmark Beach in Victoria Island, Lagos State.
It began after 1 a.m. and went on for about 40 minutes.
The two celebrities had a long-standing feud over an alleged N40m scam, where Portable accused Okocha of breaching a contract and paying him a meagre sum.
In the first round, Portable showed his confidence and dominance. He wore a blue outfit that matched his blue shorts. He controlled the ring and landed several punches to Okocha’s body, who was dressed in red.
In the second round, Okocha made a comeback and dodged Portable’s attacks. He gained more points than the ‘Zazu’ singer throughout the fight, and he was determined to maintain his lead.
He even knocked down Portable with his jabs, and the referee had to intervene.
In the third round, Portable tried to recover and ran around the ring, with Okocha chasing him. The singer took advantage of some openings and hit back at Okocha, who had hurt him in the previous round.
In the fourth round, both fighters were exhausted, but Portable still managed to surprise Okocha with some direct punches.
However, when the referee signalled for the fifth round to determine the winner, neither of them wanted to continue. This resulted in Portable being declared the winner.
Portable did not win by TKO, KO, or points, but he still claimed the belt and proved himself as the rightful champion in the intense bout.
