The Edo Police Command has nabbed three men for allegedly stealing two cars during a religious gathering in the state.
The suspects are 62-year-old Augustine Ikponmwoba, 63-year-old Roland Ibizugbe and 36-year-old Blessing Joseph. They were all paraded along with other alleged criminals at the weekend.
According to the state Police Commissioner, Funsho Adeboye, the men were caught after trackings the phone that was taken with the cars — which one of the suspects gifted to his female friend.
The CP also disclosed that the victims, Peter Abiwo and Joy Mordi told the police that they left their Toyota Camry cars with registration numbers MUS 791GA and USL 93AM worth N3.5 million each at Garrick Memorial Ground, to join a crusade but when the church service ended, they found out that their cars were missing from where they parked them.
Adeboye said the police arrested one Joseph woman who had one of the phones from Mordi’s car. He added that when questioned, she admitted that the phone was from her male friend, Ikponmwoba, who was then arrested.
in Adeboye’s words, “Ikponmwoba’s arrest led the police to Ibizugbe. The suspects have confessed to the crime and will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.”.
In a related development, the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 20-year-old Chidera Ozemina and Micheal Chukwu, 32, for allegedly stealing a Range Rover SUV in United Estate Shangotedo, Ajah, in Lagos State.
