Former Senator, Shehu Sani, believed Nigeria is getting to the point when Nigerians will beg the Federal Government to leave them in poverty.
Sani made this statement in reaction to the newly sworn-in Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, who assured Nigerians that the Federal Government will lift 133 million Nigerians out of poverty different interventions and initiatives.
According to the former Kaduna Central Senator, the immediate past government led by former President Muhammadu Buhari promised to lift Nigerians out of poverty, but instead of doing so, more Nigerians became poorer under the APC administration.
He added that the poverty that Nigerians knows is better than the one they don’t know, and thinks Nigeria will soon get to the point when the citizens would beg the Federal Government to leave them alone, in order not to worsen their conditions.
Sani wrote on X, “The Past Government promised to lift the people out of poverty. The Present Government is promising to lift the people out of poverty.
“We are reaching a point where the people will beg the Government to please leave them in Poverty. The poverty you know is better than the one you don’t know.”
Sani is widely recognose on social media, especially on his view on former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufsi who was sidelined from getting an appointment in the current administration, after some senators and other politicians worked against him.
El Rufai and Shehu Sani have dragged each others to court on multiple occasions.
