Nnenna Osu, a hairdresser, told the Customary Court in Nyanya, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), that she wanted to end her marriage to Frank Osu, who beat her with a cane like a child.
She said that her husband often lost his temper and hit her with a stick, leaving marks on her skin. She also said that he cheated her out of money, borrowing N350,000 from her and promising to pay her back.
But he never did. Instead, he left his family and the country.
The lady said that when she contacted him, he coldly told her to forget him and find someone else, saying that he had a new wife overseas.
She asked the court to let her have their children, saying that she could not bear the hurt he caused her. She also asked for N50,000 every month and help with their children’s school fees, saying that she needed his financial help.
The court saw that Frank Osu was not there.
The judge said that the case was serious and needed more investigation, and put it off until February 1.
