The Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate during the February 25 general election,, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed concerns about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic records.
According to Atiku, there is possibility that Tinubu is hiding some informations about his academic records at the Chicago State University.
He added that if that ishould be the cae, he hopes the discovery would not cause Nigerians a heart attack.
The former Vice President made this through his spokesperson, Paul Ibe.
Ibe says his procipal is concerns about Nigerians, while adding stating that the truth about Tinubu’s records at CSU would come to light soon..
Atiku’s statement read: “It should be now obvious even to the blind that Tinubu is hiding something in his records at the Chicago State University, and even elsewhere.
“I do hope whatever it may be, it will not be of a scope that will give Nigerians a heart attack. Nigerians will soon see the true position of Atiku on the records of Tinubu at CSU. It is just a matter of time.”
This came after Tinubu’s legal team challenged a court order from the Northern District of Illinois that ordered the American University to release the President’s academic records to Atiku.
Atiku had requested these records for his filing at the Presidential Election Petition Court, PEPC, in Nigeria, claiming their importance to his case.
Tinubu’s legal team argued against the immediate compliance with the order, requesting a delay until September 25, 2023, to assess the magistrate’s authority and the application of the law.
They also alleged that Atiku had misrepresented the importance of these records in the Nigerian case.
As a result, the appellate judge issued a stay on the lower court’s order and called for additional particulars from Tinubu’s counsel. The procedural timeline indicates that the president’s lawyer will file his brief on Monday, while Atiku’s team has until Wednesday to lodge any objections.
Tinubu of the All zprpgressive Congress won the presidential election, but Atiku believed he was robbed and he is challenging the outcome in court.
Atiku and the PDP had already failed at the Tribunal, but have proceeded to the Supreme Court to change the judgement.
