Newly appointed Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, want top officials of the territory to sit up and deliver good governance to the residents of Abuja.
According to the former Governor of Rivers State, the city must be cleaned up, and all the street lights must be fixed within the shortest time. He added that he believe in President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope and promise that Nigerians will start seeing changes in no distance time.
Wike promised people of Abuja that he will embark on series of projects and all will be completed and not abandoned.
He said: “I am not a party to abandoned projects. I start a project when there is money, as such we will look into our finances before we begin any project.”
He said in the meantime, there had to be immediate deliverables to assure the people that the government was determined to turn the fortunes of the territory around.
He also vowed to mount immense pressure on the director of Abuja Environmental Protection Board, noting that he must be willing to work hard and can’t be director while the city is dirty.
“You must be ready to work hard,” Wike added. “I must make sure I give you BP, so you must work hard.
“You can’t be sleeping when the environment is dirty. You can’t be a director for anything. It is an opportunity for us to tell Nigerians and Mr President that we cannot disappoint.
“If you are in charge of sanitation, buy your drugs, carry them all the time because I will disturb you all the time to make sure Abuja is clean.”
Wike believed that they are a lots of illegal bus stops in the FCT that need to be nipped in the bud, he said: “Wahala don come, I have respect for women, but this one I will not. If you don’t have the capacity, let us replace you now.”
Wike, who is the immediate past Governor of Rivers, is expected to help develop the Federal Capital Territory.
