n Lagos, a high court on Monday has ordered the death sentence of ASP Drambi Vandi, the police officer responsible for the killing of lawyer Bolanle Raheem.
The ruling was delivered by Justice Ibironke Harrison on Monday after finding Vandi guilty of a single count of murder.
The judge was quoted: “The court finds the defendant guilty on one count of murder. You will be hanged by the neck till you are dead.”

, the late Mrs Bolanle, who was pregnant at the time, tragically lost her life in an incident at the Ajah underbridge, Lagos, that involved the suspended ASP and other police officers.
Vandi was identified as the one who fired the fatal shot that pierced her chest.
Despite efforts to save her, Mrs Bolanle was declared deceased at the third hospital she was taken to after the shooting.
This incident sparked widespread outrage, leading to calls for an investigation into the actions of police officers associated with the Ajiwe police station in Ajah.
As a result, the Lagos state government brought forth a single charge of murder against Vandi, to which he initially pleaded not guilty.
The Nigerian police has been carried out some unauthorized actives, and were the the reason for the EndSARS protest in 2020, after one of its officers murdered a young man.
And aside from the two incidents, the police has not stopped carrying out unauthorized activities
