The Peoples Democratic Party flag bearer in the February 25th presidential election, Atiku Abubaka, has taken his case to the Supreme Court.
Atiku’s aim is to seek nullification of the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court on September 6.
This Tribunal had upheld Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 presidential election.
In his appeal, Atiku, represented by Chief Chris Uche, SAN, argues that the Tribunal’s findings and conclusions were flawed and did not accurately reflect the grounds of his petition.
According to Chris Uche, the Tribunal failed to nullify the February 25, 2023, presidential election due to non-compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022, citing evidence of grave misrepresentation by INEC, which goes against the principles of the Electoral Act 2022 and the “doctrine of legitimate expectation.”
INEC had announced President Tinubu as winner of the election, while Atiku emerged as runner up.
