The people of Zor-Sogho Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State has called on his Excellency Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike the Executive Governor of Rivers State to as a matter of urgency come and rescue the situation of the Government Secondary School located in the community as the poor infrastructure has affected it’s performances.
Gist Reporters gathered from one Mr. Joseph Saro as he expressed his dissatisfaction on the poor condition of the school.
Saro in his statement, said it has become imperative to communicate and Channel there displeasure through this medium as all efforts to reach the relevant authorities has proved abortive.
He however said, Wike recently, announced the abolition of school fees for public schools in the State. How will such largesse be enjoyed in an uncondusive learning environment?
This is Government Secondary School Sogho in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, which was established in 1977.
As a matter of public importance, taking into consideration the role of Education in our society, I am convinced that the state government is aware that lack of Education is the catalyst behind criminality, cultism, drug abuse, rape and other social vices.
The condition of the School is becoming more deteriorated. Our children cannot longer learn when it is raining and that has caused many of these students to lose interest in going to school.
They now prefer to stay back home. This will indirectly breed insecurity and other social vices in the long run.
The situation requires urgent and proactive measures with the view of averting total collapse of the building, loss of lives and the school going into extinction.
I therefore passionately request Your Excellency through the Ministry of Education to do the needful by revamping the dilapidated building as it is the only Government Secondary School in Sogho locality.
Take a look at some of the pictures of the said Government Secondary School, Sogho…
