The former spokesperson to former President Goodluck Jonathan Reno Omokiri has reacted after the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar accused Governor Nyesom Ezewo Wike of Rivers State for demolishing the mosque in Port Harcourt.
Omokiri in a statement released via his Official social media handle tweeted;
After watching Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi at the site of the alleged ‘demolished’ mosque and his debunking the news as LIES, I am so disappointed at the Sultan of Sokoto, for indicting Wike over this fake news, without visiting or verifying.
He further stated that in Nigeria today, many innocent people, mostly Christians, die over reactions to fake news, like the Rivers demolished mosque. His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, ought not to have joined the bandwagon. Just like the Ekiti State Governor went to visit and verify, he should have also taken the same step.
Many people were upset that Wike proclaimed Rivers a CHRISTIAN State. However, that is no reason to FABRICATE LIES. Even if others joined the bandwagon, His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto should be the one pulling them back, not adding to it.
Christians have been BEHEADED, SLAUGHTERED and DISPLACED, over FAKE NEWS like the Rivers Mosque demolition, which Governor Kayode Fayemi has proven to be LIES. The Sultan of Sokoto, and all who fed the embers, should honourably APOLOGISE
While the Rivers Mosque Demolition is a LIE, thousands of CHURCHES are DEMOLISHED, BURNT and BOMBED in Northern Nigeria. How many times has the Sultan of Sokoto condemned those TRUTHS the way he condemned the LIE of the Demolished Rivers Mosque?
In 2001, President Muhammadu Buhari said “I will continue to show openly and inside me the total commitment to the Sharia movement that is sweeping all over Nigeria”.
So what‘s wrong in Governor Nyesom Wike declaring Rivers a CHRISTIAN State?
While the Rivers Mosque Demolition has been proven to be a LIE by Fayemi, you will agree with me that on January 11, 2017, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) was DEMOLISHED in Dutse. Where was the condemnation of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto and NSCIA?
Furthermore, the church was demolished on January 11, 2017 in Dutse. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) didn’t attempt to set Nigeria on fire.
No mosque was demolished in Rivers, yet His Eminence, Sultan of Sokoto, made comments that could set Nigeria on fire.
