Sequel to the inauguration of the ONELGA SANITATION AND ROAD DECONGESTION COMMITTEE (OSARDC), by the Executive Chairman, Chief Amb Ifeanyichukwu Victor Odili, and in line with the committee’s mandate of ensuring the LGA is kept clean and decongested, the OSARDC has today held a meeting with representatives of all road transport unions and market unions as well as associations within the LGA.
Addressing the meeting, the Chairman of OSARDC, Mr. Chris Benson Nelson stated that the essence of the meeting was to synergize with the various unions and associations for the ultimate purpose of keeping ONELGA clean and decongested.
He further informed the groups present that hence forth, the following measures and more were to be taken in order to achieve the committe’s objectives;
All road transport operators are to ensure that passengers are either picked or dropped only at designated bus stops.
All car parks are to be kept clean and vehicles parked out of the roads.
All shop owners and traders are to properly bag all waste materials before disposal, which must be done strictly from 6pm to 12midnight daily.
All Keke Napep operators are henceforth prohibited from loading passengers along the express way, directly opposite the Omoku main park. Alternative park is to be provided.
Indiscriminate parking of vehicles, loading and offloading of passengers are prohibited. Etc.
Following the robust and fruitful deliberations with the unions and associations, the committee proceeded to the market and motor parks for a fact finding mission and sensitization.
