A Peace advocate & the president-General of Rivers Ethnic Youth Leaders Council, Amb. Bright Abali has reacted on the good & bad sides of the proscription of all community youths activities in Rivers State, Abali said it’s good that the Governor has directed his attention to youths activities in the state for the first time but regrets that his action will disengage the youths from their legitimate source of revenue & increase informal youths activities in the state.
“Proscribing Youths activities by past government in the state was the bane of proliferation of informal groups & criminality. Abali also said, Rivers Youth Leaders Council already have gazetted & profiled all youth groups in the state”.
He said as part of the International Youth Day Celebration on Monday 12th August 2019, The youth council is holding a press Conference to condemn all acts of insecurity & proclaim peace in all parts of the state. The event he said, will also be used to honour achievers to encourage the youths to be positive.
The proscription will amount to infringement of their right of Association but promised that the youths will abide on it. Abali thereby called on all Youth leaders to obey the order & suspend all Youth activities in all parts of the state.
