However, the former media aid in Wike led Administration Oraye St. Frankly took to his social media handle to Condemn the poor state of Port Harcourt insisting #RiversFirst should be the target.

In his post;

This is the refuse dumpsite along Obiri-Ikwerre Airport road in Port Harcourt. It is a few meters away from Jesuit Memorial College and other residential areas. It is a health hazard happening already. Here, you see refuse being used to fill up a borrow pit.

The refuse, of course, mixes with the ground water and finds its way to the homes and stomachs of residents around the area, since there is also no integrated water supply system in the State. The pungent smell is itself another issue. Could this be the fault of RIWAMA? Not exactly. I am aware that the agency has not gotten approvals or funding to provide proper dumpsites for the State.

The Rivers State Government needs to make the right investments in providing the needed infrastructure to run and sustain the waste management system in the State.

That also includes embarking on aggressive orientation of residents of the State to adopt better waste handling methods.

If these are done, we would have lesser complaints from residents of the State as the agency would be better positioned to serve our people. This conversation is about putting the lives of the people of #RiversFirst.
